School in Mazar-i-Sharif

General Information

The school we are going to build will have 8 classrooms (from 1- 8 grade) on a ground which has 4000 square meters. Later we want to increase the school from 8 to 16 classrooms with an upper floor.

If you're thinking about who is going to teach, there will be educated teachers from Ministry of Education of Afghanistan teaching the children.

So you're not only helping children to get access to education but also you're providing 15-20 teachers a job with income and a new life perspective being employed; additionally there are every day 10 workers on duty to build the school, who also have an income.

Since the opening of the school in April 2016 200 students are taught, but later 400-500 or more students will find a place for education.

In Afghanistan schools are open in the morning and in the afternoon, to make sure to use the small amount of schools which exist as efficient as possible:

In the morning girls are being taught, boys follow in the afternoon.

In our school both genders are not separated because we believe that mixing boys and girls makes both genders more open minded and gives them a better access to a modern society; for us Europeans it is natural to be surrounded by both genders in schools, universities and other educating facilities. Unfortunately this is not often the case in Afghanistan, with our school we want to work on that issue.

In the following links you'll find additional information about the school which were published in newspapers and a radio station in Slovakia.

+++ Update January 2018 +++

The second floor of the building (8 more classrooms) was built mainly with help of SLOVAK AID and Ministry of foreign and european affairs of the Slovak Republic. St. Elizabeth and University of health and social science, ZRVA/ADEHA contributed donations as well recently. Still we need to complete painting of the building, sport facilities as well as chairs and tables for another 12 classrooms.

Right now 369 children visit the school in 9 classrooms and in the upcoming new academic year which begins in March 2018 we are expecting about 70-80 new kids, both males and females.

+++ Update January 2021 +++

As more donations reached us we were able to expand the capacity of our school, now 1000 children can attend classes. A cooperation with the Ministry of Education will add a High School program too so school children can continue studying after grade six soon. This will make it possible for kids to continue studying till the ninth grade and get a high school degree.
